Tinola is a traditional Filipino stew of meat and green papaya.
When you say tinola, the first thing that pops into a Filipino’s head is tinolang manok, which is chicken meat and green papaya cooked in a stew.

If you don’t have green papaya available, you can use sayote (chayote in English and Spanish) as a substitute.
The dark leafy-vegetable component can be malunggay or sili leaves.
Ginger will give it a distinct flavor.
