UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Philippines

Banaue Rice Terraces

The UNESCO World Heritage List includes 1,248 properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage of the global community.

Philippine Sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List:

  • Baroque Churches of the Philippines (1993) – four churches built by the Spanish in the late 16th century; reinterpretation of European Baroque by Chinese and Filipino craftsmen
    1. La Asuncion de la Nuestra Señora in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur
    2. St. Augustine Church in Paoay, Ilocos Norte
    3. Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church in Miag-ao, Iloilo
    4. San Agustin Church in Manila
  • Tubbataha Reef Marine Park (1993) – the reef comprises two atolls, the North and South reefs
  • Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordillera (1995) – popularly referred to as the Banaue Rice Terraces; built by the Igorot people
  • The Historic City of Vigan (2007) – the best example of a Spanish colonial town in Asia
  • Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (1999)
