NT (ng tanghali)


The Tagalog abbreviation n.t. is short for ng tanghali.


ng tanghali
"of noon" = at noon


This abbreviation is used to distinguish noon from midnight. Englsh speakers would say 12:00 PM or "twelve noon."
 


12:00 n.t. = 12:00 pm
alas-dose ng tanghali
twelve o'clock noon


 
12:00 n.g. = 12:00 am
alas-dose ng gabi
twelve o'clock at night, midnight



The Tagalog word for noon is tanghali and for midnight is hatinggabi.


nu = ng umaga
am = in the morning

nh = ng hapon
pm = in the afternoon

ng = ng gabi
pm = at night


Filipinos are taught these Tagalog abbreviations in school but rarely use them.
