Mongo soup is a popular Filipino dish customarily eaten on Catholic meatless days such as Fridays and the Holy Week of the Lenten season.  When meat is allowed, a few pieces of pork or shrimp are added for flavor.

Hopiang mungo is a Chinese-Filipino pastry filled with sweetened mung beans.

Ilaga ang munggo hanggang sa lumambot nang mabuti. Magtalop ng maraming hipon at ang mga ulo’y dikdikin at pigain ang katas.

Magprito ng bawang at sibuyas sa mantika at kung mapula na ay gisahin ang hipong tinalupan at binudburan ng asin. Kung kumukulo na, hulugan ng mga dahong alpasotes, ampalaya o kangkong kaya.
