This word is derived from the Fukien language spoken by Chinese immigrants in the Philippines.



The word kintsay is frequently used to refer to two different plants.

1. Chinese celery, with the scientific name Apium graveolens

2. Chinese parsley, with the scientific name Coriandrum sativum
(also referred to in Tagalog as unsoy, silantro, koryander)
