Biography: Her father was Filipino and her mother is Hawaiian/Russian mother. Her father (last name: Valiente) left when she was a baby and she adopted the surname of her stepfather (Scherzinger).

Her parents couldn't afford acting or vocal lessons while she was in her teens. But she did enroll in a performing-arts high school and then paid her own way through college where she majored in theatre and acting and studied dance extensively.

As lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, she was key to the group's success, selling upwards of seven million albums and appearing as a guest vocalist on tracks by the likes of P. Diddy and Busta Rhymes, all accomplished in three years.

Her previous all-girl outfit, Eden’s Crush, was born out of the reality TV series “Popstars” and she served as the background singer for the late 90s rock group Days of the New.

Her debut album Her Name Is Nicole came out in December 2007. For her first effort, Nicole enlisted the help of old friends like will.i.am, Polow Da Don, Sean Garrett, Kara Dioguardi and Timbaland. She also has made new friends with Akon, Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams, Macy Gray and Sting.

Nicole wrote the lead single "Baby Love"  with will.i.am and Kara Dioguardi. The song contains the Hawaiian slack key to reflect her background.

"Supervillain" has a disco-inspired synth-heavy melody that showcases her five-octave range. It was produced by Madd Scientist and written by Rock City.

"Physical" was produced by Timbaland, while "Just Say Yes" was written by Gary Lightbody, lead singer of Snow Patrol. It is one of the five ballads on Her Name Is Nicole and its message is one of undying love.

"Save Me From Myself" was written by Ne-Yo, who also wrote the track "Happily Never After," another emotional ballad.  Other music artists who lent their skills: Akon, who co-wrote "When You're Falling," T.I., who appears on t "Whatever U Like" and Sting, who took time out from The Police reunion tour to record "Power's Out" while on a stop in Boston.
